This includes all attempted coursework from all institutions. Appalachian divides an applicant's total cumulative earned quality grade points by their total cumulative attempted hours to determine this value.
For example, if a student earned 71 grade points on 19 attempted hours from institution A (so a 3.74 GPA on 19 hours from institution A) and 136 grade points on 47 attempted hours from institution B (so a 2.89 GPA on 47 hours from institution B), then they earned a total of 207 grade points on 66 attempted hours, which equates to a cumulative college GPA of 3.13 (calculated by dividing 207 by 66). Appalachian would use this GPA in a review for admissibility, even if less than the 66 total hours were transferable into the program.
