Hurricane Helene Emergency Grant Program Application

The NC General Assembly has allocated funding to assist students at App State affected by Hurricane Helene. Students can request up to $2,500 in additional funding to assist with expenses due to Hurricane Helene by completing this application. Applicants must have suffered financial hardship due to the damage and destruction from Hurricane Helene and can use any funds awarded to cover any expenses to support their continued enrollment, including costs related to transportation, textbooks, tuition, fees, relocation costs, and living expenses.

Once an application is received and considered complete, it will be reviewed to determine what funds are available for the student submitting the request.

If the application is approved, students will receive funding within two weeks of receipt of the application.

Eligibility Criteria:

Has a financial need related to the impact of Hurricane Helene.
Resides, temporarily or permanently, in the affected area.
Has taken all reasonable steps to obtain alternative funds that cover the losses or needs including funds from insurance policies and federal aid.

Submit any documentation substantiating your request. Proof may include government or insurance documents substantiating expenses, photographs, documentation from landlord, etc.

If you do not have any of these documents available, it will not exclude you from obtaining aid.
